WITCH BALL
Witch Balls are brilliantly hued glass balls with tendrils of twisted glass inside. According to legend, witches and other evil spirits are attracted by the ball's bright colors. Once inside the twisted strands of glass trap them and prevent them from escaping. Popular in the 17th & 18th century, particularly in New England, they were hung in the doorway of the home as a form of protection.
